Derek Henderson, P.E.
Derek has been practicing structural engineering since 2000 and is recognized as an industry expert in the design of high-end residential homes, timber frames and log structures. Prior to receiving his engineering degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Derek worked in the residential construction industry for eight years. His hands-on construction experience has enabled him to create innovative and cost-effective design solutions for his clients, as well as the ability to respond effectively to construction issues. As a licensed Professional Engineer, Derek’s design and project management experience covers a wide range of project types, including residential, commercial, higher education, mixed-use, office, and senior living facilities. He also has extensive experience with seismic design, concrete, masonry, and steel construction. Derek has helped shape the residential community along Colorado’s Front Range and in mountain resort communities, such as the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana.
Derek is passionate about what he does and who he works with, and brings this enthusiasm to every project he’s involved with. When Derek is not engineering, he can be found mountain biking or snow skiing in the Colorado high country. Derek also leads a 35-person mountain bike cycling race team.
